Burgess Hill U10s (246 for 6) lost to Brighton & Hove (259 for 5) by 13 runs.
Batting first the lads found it difficult to get the ball away against what was a strong B&H attack, especially pairs 1 and 4 (Henry Fortune / Ted Cornish & Hayden Wickwar / Jake Armstrong) who needed to defend well against bowlers who consistently bowled a good line and length reducing the number of run scoring opportunities.
When it was our turn to bowl, all of the boys really excelled with only 8 extras being bowled in the whole 20 overs, which is a terrific achievement and great to see. Wickets were shared between Oil O’Reardon, Tom Izard, Jake Armstrong and Hayden Wickwar (2) with Oil O’Reardon and Henry Short both taking great catches.
In summary, this turned out to be a fairly even game with many positives, despite the loss.
